A couple of years ago, while I was sitting in my chair (pumping), I took a look around and noticed just how filthy my house really was. I knew that I no longer had the time or energy for anything like a good spring cleaning because my twins were about 4 months old at the time, and so I came up with a list. I think that it was like November or December and so I decided that it would be my New Year's resolution. I started with my kitchen and moved down the hall to the bedrooms with each room's list containing everything that I wanted to get cleaned in that room and each room taking a different month. When January 07 rolled around I finished my whole list and my kitchen was totally cleaned. It felt really good. I never moved on to any of the other rooms, sadly the resolution was broken.
This year I have resurrected the list. I have typed it up checklist style and I posted it on the fridge (which has already been cleaned!) Things are right on schedule for the kitchen. I have 9 things left to do and 10 days left to do them! I cleaned my kitchen blinds yesterday and they look so nice. In 07 I started with just some hot water and a wet rag, then when the greasy dust on the blinds was too tough for that I added some Pine sol to my water and then the blinds were getting black streaks on them where the grease wouldn't come off, needless to say it took me a couple of days to do the blinds. This year I started off with my favorite kitchen cleaner...Easy Off BAM! It only took me about an hour start to finish, then I washed the window. I love it when you can clean something (like blinds and a window) and it stays clean for a number of days (rather than hours) and you can enjoy it and feel good about it. Today's item to be cleaned is the insides of the fridge and freezer. It's a pretty big chore, I've been putting it off but I've committed to it now, so at 1:00 I'm going to put the kids in bed, turn on OLTL and get to it.

Way to go Sara!! Where on earth do you find all the energy to do all that you do. That sounds like a great idea, i just don't think that I am quite ready for the commitment. I try and try but to my dismay, I can't seem to get it all done, and then I get to overwhelmed and quit! AUUUGGGHHH
Don't you like DOOL better than OLTL? I guess it's too early in the day for Ellen or Oprah . . .dacloin
Way to have a system. I just clean whatever is sicking me out the most. But I agree that blinds are a nice job because you know it will be months before you have to do it again.
